Build your counselling experience while making a difference

Reach Out for Mental Health offers counselling placements for students working towards a Level 4 qualification or above in counselling, psychotherapy, or other talking therapy modalities.

We onboard new students quarterly, with our next intake in January 2026. It’s a structured, supportive opportunity to gain real-world experience helping people across Essex.

Where you’ll work

All placements are delivered:

  • Face-to-face from our Chelmsford office

  • Online via Zoom for students completing remote counselling hours

Each placement involves up to 12 weeks of one-to-one counselling, with case management and ongoing support provided by our Counselling Co-ordinator. You’ll be part of a team that values professionalism, empathy and the practical development of counselling skills.
