How to Access Support
You can refer yourself to Reach Out for Mental Health or be referred by a professional such as a GP, social prescriber, or community organisation.
We currently offer support to adults aged 18 or over who live in Essex, Southend or Thurrock and who are finding life difficult or experiencing suicidal thoughts.
You do not need a formal diagnosis to access our service.
Our Services

One-to-one counselling (up to 12 weeks)

Coffee groups – small, peer-led sessions for connection and conversation

Befriending calls – regular weekly phone check ins from trained volunteers (up to 6 weeks)
We Can Support You If

You are aged 18+ and live in Essex, Southend or Thurrock

You are feeling suicidal, emotionally overwhelmed, or struggling to cope

You are safe to engage in short-term counselling or group support
-
You are not currently receiving counselling elsewhere

You are willing to work on present-day difficulties.
We Are Not Able to Accept Referrals From People Who

Are in active crisis or unable to keep themselves safe

Are experiencing symptoms of psychosis or hallucinations as their main difficulty

Have complex or historic trauma that requires long-term or specialist therapy
-
Are currently misusing alcohol or drugs
-
Are involved in ongoing court proceedings (criminal, family, or safeguarding)

Live outside Essex

Are currently open to secondary mental health or crisis services
Other Support Options
If we’re not the right service for you, we’ll help you find the most appropriate support — such as NHS Talking Therapies, Mind, Samaritans, or specialist trauma and substance-misuse services.
